Dr. Shailja Vasudeva, an esteemed Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Shaheed Captain Vikram Batra Government Degree College, Palampur, District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, India, has been nominated for the prestigious Phoenix Women’s Excellence Award 2025.
Academic and Professional Journey
Originating from a humble background, Dr. Vasudeva boasts over 19 years of teaching experience at the college and university levels. She has successfully guided one PhD student from Himachal Pradesh University and an MPhil student from Vinayaka University. Her extensive research portfolio includes over 32 published articles in international peer-reviewed, UGC-approved, UGC CARE-listed, and Scopus journals. Additionally, she has presented more than 50 papers at national and international conferences, seminars, webinars, and symposiums held in countries such as India, Germany, Nigeria, the Philippines, Turkey, and Albania.
Contributions to Academia and Research
Dr. Vasudeva has delivered over 50 lectures globally, including in Nigeria, Pakistan, Georgia, Turkey, Germany, Serbia, Croatia, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Malaysia, and London. She has chaired more than 25 sessions at national and international events. Notably, in October 2023, she chaired a seven-hour session on Middle Eastern countries at an international conference organized by seven government universities from Germany and Turkey, earning her the Best International Chairperson Award.Her literary accomplishments include six published books, four authored and two edited. She has also contributed 10 full papers in conference proceedings and book chapters across India, Serbia, Albania, Germany, and Turkey. Dr. Vasudeva’s dedication to professional growth is evident through her participation in one orientation program, three refresher courses, 35+ faculty development programs, and 40+ workshops. She serves as an editorial board member for national and international journals and has reviewed over 50 research articles.
Recognition and Honors
Dr. Vasudeva has been honored twice by the late Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Raja Virbhadra Singh, for her exceptional academic performance. Her accolades include over 50 national and international awards from countries such as Germany, the Philippines, Nigeria, Serbia, and Croatia. Noteworthy honors include the Best Academician International Award, Global Best Faculty Award, Best Young Researcher Global Award, Best International Women Icon Award, and the Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Excellence Award. On International Women’s Day 2024, she received five awards, including four international and one national.In 2025, she was further recognized with 11 awards on International Women’s Day, including the Young Women International Icon Award, Most Successful Young Educator, and Most Powerful and Influential Woman Global Award.
Leadership and Global Engagement
Dr. Vasudeva holds key positions in various international organizations. She is the Country Director of the International Research Association Science and Arts (IRASA) Academy, India Branch, Belgrade, Serbia; Directress of Online Programs for SWOT Team Nigeria; and International Research Coordinator for Mindanao State University Sulu, Philippines. She has organized and coordinated over 70 international faculty development programs, conferences, and workshops.
